Tennison, William

Aldbrough WW1 Memorial, located in the village centre. Unveiled on 01/05/1920, lists 21 names for WW1 and 8 for WW2.

Born Aldbrough, East Yorkshire, 1897. Son of William and Sarah Hannah Tennison. He had four brothers and a sister. His father was a farm labourer.

Served as, Driver, William Tennison, T4/057567, Army Service Corps. Enlisted at Beverley, posted to France, on 12/04/1915 and died on 29/10/1918, aged 21.

His brother,  Private, George Henry Tennsion, 15436, 1st Royal Fusiliers, was wounded in the war.

His brother, Private, Charles Edward Tennison, enlisted at Hull. Served as Gunner, 755543, in the Royal Field Artillery, “A” Bty. 251st Brigade. Killed in action, on 27/05/1918, aged 26. He is buried in France. His army effects were left to his widow, Minnie V. Knaggs, who he married at Skirlaugh, in 1915. She lived at 3 Mill Row, Aldbrough, East Yorkshire, UK (Pension Ledger Address).
