BORN HULL 27TH FEBRUARY 1887. SON OF GEORGE & LOUISA YOUNG, OF, 4, FRANKLIN AVENUE, FRANKLIN STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS).  A CARPENTER. HE HAD SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE VOLUNTARY BRIGADE, HULL, FOR FIVE YEARS.

DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 37-40 INCH CHEST, DARK COMPLEXION, BLUE EYES, FAIR HAIR, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

HE HAD BEEN SENT TO CANAD AS A BARNADO BOY. HE ENLISTED AT VICTORIA, CANADA, ON 18TH MARCH 1915. SERVED IN THE 3RD CANADIAN PIONEERS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 21/04/1917, AGED 32. BURIED IN FRANCE.

His name is recorded on Canada’s, British Home Children World War 1 Honour Roll.
