BORN HULL 1883. SON OF GEORGE THOMPSON (1831-1905) AND HARRIET RAMSDALE (1841-1915). ONE OF TWELVE CHILDREN.

MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1902, AGED 18. HUSBAND OF MARGARET HARVEY THOMPSON (BORN 2/2/1884 – 1929), WHO LIVED AT 5, FERN AVENUE, FLEET STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS), 10 VICTORIA VILLAS, CLYDE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS), AND 7, LIZZIES AVENUE, RHODES STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD FIVE CHILDREN, GEORGE ALBERT, JANE MARGARET, ARTHUR LAWRENCE, LILIAN MAUD AND WALTER EDWIN. HE WAS A BLUNDELL’S PAINT WORKER.

ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER, “C” BATTERY, 277TH ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/06/1917, AGED 34.

BURIED AT VOORMEZEELE ENCLOSURE NO.3, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION READS, “ALWAYS REMEMBERED WHEN THE WORLD FORGETS”

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, MARGARET, WHO WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 31 SHILLINGS AND 3 PENCE.
