BORN HULL 1893. SON OF WILLIAM & MARY THOMPSON, OF 2, ETTYS TERRACE, STRICKLAND STREET, HULL (HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS) & 28, MALM STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE SKULL, ON 11/06/1915, AGED 22. HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH APPEAR IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 11TH MAY 1915 AND 14TH JUNE 1915, AND ALSO IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 19TH JUNE 1915. *
HIS BROTHER, HERBERT ERNEST THOMPSON, 6TH EAST YORKSHIRE PIONEERS, WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI TWO MONTHS LATER, ON 09/08/1915. BOTH UNMARRIED. THEY LEFT SISTERS AT HOME. THEIR ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HER WIDOWED MOTHER., MARY, WH HAD LOST TWO SONS IN TWO MONTHS. SHE MOVED TO 28, MALM STREET, BOULEVARD, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS)

HIS NAME IS RECORDED AS KILLED, ON THE GILLETT STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 30 August 1916).
