BORN HULL 1895.ON OF JOHN WILLIAM TINDALL (1872-1948) AND EUNICE TINDALL (1871-1958), OF 10, WALTERS CRESCENT, SCARBOROUGH STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS & WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 1, POPLAR CRESCENT, WESTBOURNE STREET, HESSLE ROAD. SON OF A BRICKLAYER. ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN.

A LABOURER. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 200911, 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 29/07/1917, AGED 23. DURING A SUCCESSFUL, NIGHT, TRENCH RAID, NORTH OF ROEUX (SEVEN MILITARY MEDALS WERE AWARDED).
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN WILLIAM. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, 220138, JOHN WILLIAM TINDALL, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 23/04/1917, AGED 25. THEY ARE BOTH COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL.
HIS OTHER BROTHER, FRANK TINDALL, EYR, HAD BEEN A PRISONER OF WAR SINCE 23/04/1917, AGED 22. HIS YOUNGEST BROTHER, PRIVATE, ROBERT TINDALL, NOTTS & DERBY, WAS 20 AND SERVING IN ITALY.
