BORN HULL 1891. SCULCOATES. SON OF JOHN WILLIAM TINDALL (1859-1931) AND EMMA CAWKILL (1861-1930), OF CASTLETHORPE, LINCOLNSHIRE. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. HE WORKED AS A PLATELAYER.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINED ROYAL ENGINEERS, RAILWAYS SECTION, IN 1914. TRANSFERRED TO THE 13TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS (ALEXANDRA, PRINCES OF WALES OWN). PROMOTED TO LANCE SERGEANT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/11/1917, AGED 23. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN WILLIAM. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL IN ST. PETER’S CHURCH, HUTTON CRANSWICK
HIS SOLDIERS DIED RECORD SAY THAT HE WAS BORN IN HULL AND RESIDED IN THE SPRING BANK AREA.
