Townley, George Thomas

Born Hull 1891. Son of Charles Townley (1857-1920) Ada Townley (1860-1943), of 96, Goulton Street, Boulevard, Hull (War Pension address). Son of a Boilermaker. He had three brothers and three sisters. A seaman.

He enlisted at Hull, when war broke out. Served in the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Discharged on 04/09/1917. Died of gastritis and exhaustion, on 03/11/1924, aged 32. He received the 1915 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal for his war service. Awarded the Silver Wound Badge, in 1920 (Badge No: 243117)

His brother, Private, Bernard Townley, North Staff Regiment, was killed in action, on 27/09/1917.
