BORN HULL 1891. SON OF FRED VASEY (1854-1926) AND MRS MILDRED KIRKMAN (1856-1937) OF 6 SHAFTESBURY AVENUE, INGS ROAD, HULL. HE HAD ONE BROTHER AND SIX SISTERS. HE WAS A DEAL CARRIER. LIVING AT 5 SPYVEE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 10.5 INCHES TALL, 39 INCH CHEST, 174LBS WEIGHT, SCAR ON FOREHEAD.
HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 23/11/1914, AGED 23. SERVED IN EGYPT AND POSTED TO FRANCE ON 07/03/1916. HE WAS APPOINTED PAID LANCE CORPORAL, 07/03/1917, CORPORAL, ON 15/08/1917, AND LANCE SERGEANT, ON 06/12/1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 06/12/1917, AGED 26. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON THE SAME DAY . HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 3 YEARS AND 14 DAYS.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MILDRED, AT 5 SPYVEE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
