BORN GOOLE 1895. SON OF NATHANIEL VAUSE & EMMA TREDGETT (1868-1958), OF 65 NEWPORT STREET, GOOLE. SON OF A RAILWAY COAL PORTER. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS, AND THREE SISTERS. WORKED AT THE LOCAL ALUMINIUM WORKS. HE ENLISTED AT GOOLE. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 242154, EAST SURREY REGIMENT. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE 4TH BEDFORDSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 30/10/1917, AGED 22. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, NATHANIEL. EDWIN VAUSE IS LISTED AS A HULL CASUALTY IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/12/1917.
HIS BROTHER, ALBERT VAUSE, WAS KILLED AT JUTLAND, ON HMS “BLACK PRINCE”, ON 31/05/1916, AGED 19.
