ELDEST SON OF JOHN WILLIAM VERITY (1863-1947) & CAROLINE (CARRIE) VERITY (1861-1946), OF 67, ELLS STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS), 11, LAMBERT STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 4, CRANBROOK AVENUE, HULL. (CWGC ADDRESS).  ONE OF FIVE CHILDREN. HE WORKED FOR OCEAN ACCIDENT (INSURANCE), LOWGATE HULL AND WAS A MANAGING CLERK, FOR MR JAMES RICHARDS, INSURANCE BROKER, HULL. HE HAD A LARGE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AT NEWLAND. WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF ST JOHNS CHURCH, HULL AND A CHOIR MEMBER THERE, FOR FIFTEEN YEARS. ALSO A SCOUT MASTER, AND A FORMER SERGEANT IN THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS A GUNNER, IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 24/05//1918, AGED 25.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 04/06/1918.

RECORDED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL T ST JOHNS, NEWLAND, HULL.

HIS PROBATE ADDRESS WAS 11 LAMBERT STREET, HULL. HE LEFT £172 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER.

HE IS BURIED AT FRANVILLERS COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, SOMME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “EVER REMEMBERED BY ALL WHO LOVED HIM”
