HE MARRIED FRANCES HANNAH WILLIAMSON, AT ST PHILLIPS, CHURCH, HULL, ON 15/08/1912. HIS WIFE FRANCES HANNAH WADDINGHAM, LIVED AT BROOMFLEET LANDING, BROUGH & 2 CHILDREN.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 08/04/1916, AGED 24 YEARS AND 9 MONTHS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 9 INCHES TALL, 37 INCH CHEST, 142 LBS WEIGHT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/07/1916. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN THE HEAD AND RIGHT SIDE, ON 23/04/1917. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 06/03/1917, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 17/05/1917.
HE LEFT A WIDOW AND TWO CHILDREN. HE IS BURIED AT ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER KIND A BEAUTIFUL MEMORY LEFT BEHIND”.
HE LEFT THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS, LIVING AT 1 GREEK STREET. HIS BROTHER, ALBERT DIED ON HMS “QUEEN MARY” AT THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND, 31/05/1916, AGED 19. TWO STEP BROTHERS SERVED WITH THE CANADIANS AND ANOTHER, DRIVER, P. SUCH, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. TWO NEPHEWS HAD ALREADY BEEN KILLED – SERGEANTS, WILLIAM EVERITT (EYR) AND SERGEANT, G.R. SMITH, OF THE CANADIAN EXPEDITION,ARY FORCE.
HARRY’S NAME IS LISTED ON ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL. WITH HIS YOUNGER BROTHER ALBERT WADDINGHAM, LOST AT SEA DURING THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND, ON HMS “QUEEN MARY” AGED 16.
