SS Guido, built by Dunlop, Bremner & Co. Ltd., Port Glasgow in 1913 and owned at the time of her loss by T. Wilson, Sons & Co. Ltd., Hull, was a British steamer of 2093 tons. On July 8th, 1915, Guido, on a voyage from London & Hull to Archangelsk with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-25 (Otto Wünsche), 27 miles NE1/4N from Rattray Head. Shortly before one o’clock yesterday the crew of 25 of the Russian steamer Anna, and 24 of the crew of the British steamer Guido, of the Wilson Line, and belonging to Hull, were landed at Peterhead, both vessels having been sunk by German submarines. The Guido was on her way from Archangel with general cargo, while the Anna was bound from Archangel to Hull with a consignment of timber. Provost Least, hon. local agent for wrecked Mariners’ Society, attended to the wants of the crew of the Guido, and Messrs Gray and Gray, solicitors, local Russian Consul, acted in a similar capacity with regard the Russian crew.
