BORN BURSTWICK 1895. ENLISTED IN THE RGA AT HULL IN 1914. WENT TO FRANCE IN MAY 1916. HE WAS THE YOUNGEST OF THREE SONS SERVING OF JOHN WALKER, BURKS ROW, BURSTWICK. HIS BROTHER HARRY 25 YEARS OLD SERVED IN THE SAME RGA REGIMENT. ALBERT WAS KILLED BY SHELL FIRE ON THE 23RD SEPTEMBER 1916, AGED 21. A TRIBUTE LETTER DESCRIBED HIM AS “AN EXCELLENT GUNNER, SMART AND ATTENTIVE TO ALL HIS DUTIES AND GAVE STAISFACTION IN EVERY RESPECT.” HE WAS BURIED WITH A COMRADE KILLED AT THE SAME TIME. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 7TH OCTOBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
