BORN ST STEPHENS, HULL 1891. SON OF RICHARD MOUNTENEY WALLACE (1852-1902) & ELIZABETH ANN WALLACE (1860-1910), OF 8, WINDSOR TERRACE, COLONIAL STREET, HULL. A DOCKER. HE WORKED FOR MESSRS, WRAY AND SANDERSON’S, SCULCOATES, HULL. HE LODGED AT 382, GREAT UPPER UNION STREET, HULL.
HE MARRIED GERTRUDE STEWART (1887-1894), IN JANUARY 1913. HIS WIFE GERTRUDE, AND DAUGHTER EDNA WALLACE, LIVED AT 12, CAMPBELL TERRACE, RODNEY STREET, HULL AND 15, BLENHEIM TERRACE, NORFOLK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES).
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN 1914. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 418 EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS RIFLEMAN, 45161, KINGS ROYAL RIFLE CORPS. HE WAS ATTACHED TO THE QUEENS WESTMINSTER RIFLE WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 27/09/1918, AGED 27. HE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN WOUNDED TWICE.
HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIFE GERTRUDE. SHE APPEALED FOR MORE INFORMATION ON HIS DEATH, IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 23/10/1918 & 21/01/1919.
HE IS BURIED AT SAUCHY-CAUCHY COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION
