HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE BATTLE OF THE SOMME, 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 21. BURIED AT FRICOURT CEMETERY. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY, AT THIS CWGC ADDRESS.
