He enlisted in Hull. Served with the 8th Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment. Killed in action, on 21/03/1918, aged 19.
Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. His army effects were left to his mother, Annie Elizabeth.
