A FORMER SOLDIER. HE ENLISTED AT LEICESTER, IN 1909. JOINED THE 1ST LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT AND SERVED IN MADRAS. HE WAS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 124 LBS WEIGHT, 35-37 INCH CHEST, WESLYAN RELIGION. A QUALIFIED MAXIM MACHINE GUNNER, IN 1914. PROMOTED SERGEANT, ON 24/08/1916. ARRIVED FRANCE, 08/02/1917, AS A LEWIS GUNNER SERGEANT. PROMOTED COMPANY QUARTER MASTER SERGEANT. KILLED IN ACTION, 19/09/1918, AGED 27. BURIED IN FRANCE.
HIS WIFE, MARTHA ELIZABETH WARRENER, AND ONE CHILD, MOVED TO 12 EDWARD ROAD, CLARENDON PARK, LEICESTER (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS WIDOW RE-MARRIED.
