HE WAS MARRIED FLORENCE JONES, AT ST BARNABAS CHURCH ON 28/11/1915. THEY LIVED AT 18 VICTORIA AVENUE, CONWAY STREET, HESSLE ROAD, HULL. HE WORKED AS AN ENGINE CLEANER, FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS, FOR 8 YEARS.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 09/09/1914, AGED 23 YEARS AND 10 MONTHS. SERVED WITH THE 11TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (2ND HULL PALS BATTALION). DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6.5 INCHES TALL, 35 INCH CHEST, 134 LBS WEIGHT. PROMOTED TO SERGEANT, ON 14/03/1916. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 25/07/1917. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/09/1917, AGED 26.
