BORN HULL 1893. A HULL PAL. ELDEST SON OF RICHARD WEBSTER (1865-1945) & FLORENCE ELEANOR HAYWARD (1872-1943), OF 80, CLOUGH ROAD, HULL AND 36, HAWORTH STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS.
FOR SERVERAL YEARS HE WAS PART OF THE CLERICAL STAFF, AT THE PREMIER OIL EXTRACTING MILLS LTD, STONEFERRY, HULL. HE WAS THE FIRST MAN FROM THE COMPANY TO ENLIST. UNMARRIED, HE JOINED THE HULL COMMERCIALS. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/09/1916, AGED 22.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HAWORTH STREET ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 02/10/1916.
HE IS BURIED AT ST. VAAST POST MILITARY CEMETERY, RICHEBOURG-L’AVOUE, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “BEYOND ALL STRIFE AND SORROW”.
