BORN OTTRINGHAM 1884. SON OF JOHN WELDON (1849-1923) AND ELLEN HARRISON (1853-1900). SON OF A WIDOWED LAND GRAINER IN PATRINGTON. HE WORKED AS A FARM LABOURER. Brother of Mrs. Hannah Jobling, of 16, Robert’s Terrace, Marmaduke St., Hessle Rd., Hull.

HE MARRIED LOTTIE SWAN, IN HULL, ON 03/10/1909. HIS WIFE LOTTIE SWAN LIVED AT 47 , VAUXHALL GROVE, HULL, (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). THEY HAD TWO CHILDREN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 6 INCHES TALL, 154 LBS, 37 INCH CHEST, GREY EYES, BROWN HAIR. TATTOO ON LEFT FOREARM. HE ENLISTED 04/11/1914. SERVED WITH THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, IN FRANCE, MIDDLE EAST AND SALONIKA. HE DIED ON 23/03/1919, AGED 35. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON HULL’S WALKER STREET MEMORIAL.
WILLIAM’S WIDOW DESERTED THEIR CHILDREN AND THEY WERE LOOKED AFTER BY THE SCULCOATES POOR HOUSE (WAR PENSION RECORDS).

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, THOMAS WELDON, 25441, WAS ALSO KILLED, SERVING WITH THE 6TH KOYLI WAS KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 19/08/1916.
