BORN HULL 1893. SON OF LAURA WELLS, OF 1, ST ANDREW VILLAS, PRINCES ROAD, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS) AND 66, PRINCES ROAD, NEWLAND, HULL.
HE WAS EMPLOYED BY THE HULL CO-OPERATIVE, WORKING IN THE BAKERY DEPARTMENT. HE ENLISTED AT HULL AND SERVED WITH THE HULL PALS, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. HE HAS SURVIVED THE SOMME AND THE BATTLE AT OPPY WOOD.
HE WAS A SPLENDID SOLDIER, RELIABLE, CHEERFULL AND A VALUABLE LEWIS GUNNER. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/01/1918, AGED 25. BURIED IN FRANCE.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/01/1918. *
