Welton, Tom

Born Brigg, Lincolnshire, 1897. Son of William Welton (1861-1903) & Mary Jane Markham Welton (1864-1928), of 31 & 39, Barrow Road, Barton upon Humber (War Pension address). He worked in the bicycle factory from the age of 13, with his elder brother, Robert Welton.

He enlisted at York. Served with the 2/5th Prince of Wales’s Own (West Yorkshire) Regiment. Killed in action, on 20/07/1918, aged 20

Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, l’Aisne, Picardie, France. Unmarried. His army effects were left to his widowed mother, Mary Jane.
