SS Polo, built by Earle’s Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd., Hull in 1913 and owned at the time of her loss by Ellerman’s Wilson Line, Ltd., Hull, was a British steamer of 1383 tons. On February 12th, 1918, Polo, on a voyage from Hull to Alexandria with a cargo of coal and general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine UB-57 (Johannes Lohs), 6 miles SExE of St. Catherine’s Point. 3 persons were lost.
