HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 13201, 2ND BATTALION, COLDSTREAM GUARDS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT PASSCHENDAELE, ON 10/10/1917, AGED 25 AND IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, TO THE MISSING, BELGIUM. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE WHATLING, AT THIS PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS.
