Withernsea WW1 Memorial, Queens Street. The memorial was erected in 1923 at a cost of £451, the funds for which were collected through public subscription. A service of dedication was held in 1924. Inscribed in four columns, are the names of sixty-four men killed in World War I.

BORN HULL 1895. YOUNGEST CHILD OF THE LATE WILLIAM WHITE AND ADA CHERRY. HIS ELDER BROTHER JAMES WHITE LIVED AT 150 , MARLBOROUGH AVENUE, HULL & 229 BOULEVARD, HULL. EMPLOYED AS A CORN MERCHANT’S CLERK.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 6TH (ALEXANDRA, PRINCE OF WALES OWN) YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. LEFT FOR THE DARDENELLES, ON 14/07/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, AT GALLIPOLI ON 22/08/1915, AGED 19. COMMEMORATED ON THE HELLES MEMORIAL, TURKEY.

UNMARRIED HE LEFT OLDER SIBLINGS, JAMES, CHARLOTTE, KENNETH AND WILLIAM WHITE.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE WITHERNSEA WW1 MEMORIAL AND AT ST JOHNS CHURCH, NEWLAND, HULL.
