BORN HULL 1899. ONLY SON OF JOHN HENRY & MARY WILKINSON, OF 11 RICHMOND TERRACE, GRANGE STREET, HULL AND 17 LAKE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD ONE SISTER. WORKED FOR ROSE, DOWNS AND THOMPSON AS A HYDRAULIC LEATHER MAKER AND POLISHER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8.5 INCHES TALL, 35.5-37.5 INCH CHEST, “A GOOD TIME KEEPER, INDUSTRIOUS AND CAREFUL IN HIS WORK”.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 10/12/1915. SERVED AS A MUNITIONS WORKER, UNTIL CALLED UP ON 02/07/1918. TRAINED IN LEEDS. POSTED TO ITALY, ON 05/11/1918. SERVED IN THE 11TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF RHEUMATIC FEVER AND MENINGITIS, AT THE 51ST STATIONARY HOSPITAL, GENOA, ITALY, ON 22/03/1919, AGED 20. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY, AT 17 LAKE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
