Wilkinson James BORN HULL 12/10/1879, AT 6 LIME TERRACE, HODGSON STREET, HULL. SON OF WILLIAM WILKINSON (1852-1896) AND MARY ANN MARRIOT (1856-1935). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.

HE MARRIED EDITH EMMA WARD, AT ST MAYS CHURCH, HULL, ON 23/12/1901, AGED 23. HE WORKED AS A FARM LABOURER AND CARTER, LIVING AT CHURCH LANE, PRESTON, (1911 CENSUS) AND 38 BRECON STREET, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6.5 INCHES TALL, 39-41 INCH CHEST, 173 LBS WEIGHT.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 21/06/1915. TRAINED AT WITHERNSEA AND BARTON WHERE HE QUALIFIED AS FIRST CLASS IN MUSKETERY. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 04/08/1917. SERVED WITH THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. PROMOTED TO CORPORAL. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 04/10/1917, AGED 37.

HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS “BROKEN HEARTED” WIDOW, EDITH EMMA WILKINSON, AND FIVE CHILDREN, AT 8 NORNABELL STREET, HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL. SHE RECEIVED A WEEKLY PENSION, OF 32 SHILLINGS AND SIX PENCE, FROM 29/04/1918.
