BORN HULL 1889. ALIAS ALBERT WELLS. KNOWN AS WILLIS ON THE CWGC RECORDS. SON OF JAMES FAIRBURN WILLIS & MARTHA WARE, OF 13 RIPPON TERRACE, KENT STREET, HULL. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. HE WORKED AT RECKITT’S, HULL. JOINED RECKITT’S ON 12/07/1911 AND WORKED IN THE PAPER STORES.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND AND 8TH YORK AND LANCASTER REGIMENT. DIED ON 02/12/1916, AGED 32. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER, ALICE GREGSON, AT 149 HODGSON STREET, HULL.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE ST MARKS STREET MEMORIAL & KINGS HALL CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, SYMONS STREET, HULL.

ALSO RECORDED IN THE RECKITT’S WW1 BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE,

HIS BROTHER, CHARLES EDWARD WELLS, SERVED AS PRIVATE, 64099, IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS WOUNDED IN THE SHOULDER IN 1916 AND SHELL SHOCKED IN 1917. HE SURVIVED THE WAR. HIS ARMY RECORDS SAY ALBERT LIVED AT 4 OXFORD STREET, HULL.
