Wilson, John Percy

Born Hull 1887. Soh of Joseph William and Mary Ann Wilson, of 4, Emily Street, Hedon Road, Hull. He had five sisters, and two elder brothers, Thomas Green Wilson and Joseph William Wilson, who both served in the war

He Married at Hull, on 05/08/1905. Husband of Bertha Mace, at 6, Darley Court, New George Street, Hull (1911 Census), 3, King’s Buildings, New George Street, Hull (1916 Army address) and 2, Thomas Place, Francis Street, Hull (War Pension address). The had two children, Florence and John.

He enlisted at Hull, on 21/08/1914. Served as a Gunner, Hull Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Posted to France, on 14/10/1914. Transferred to Royal Garrison Artillery, 115th Heavy Battery. He returned to England on 18/12/1916. Discharged from the army on 08/10/1917. Served for 3 years and 49 days. Described as “Very Good” Character. Awarded the Silver war Badge (No: 133367). Died at Hull, 11/09/1934, aged 47.

His name is listed on the ww1 Memorial, St John The Baptist Church, Newington, Hull.
