Born Barton, Lincs, 1871. Son of George Wood & Jane Hammond. He married Charlotte Thompson, in Glanford in 1909. They had eight children. Soldiers Died records state that he lived in Hull. He enlisted in Barton. Ex 25147, South Staffs. Transferred to the 3rd Worcestershire regiment. He married Amy M Richards in Hull, in 1916. He was killed in action, on 27th May 1918, aged 47. Commemorated on the Soissons Memorial. His army Effects were left to his widow Amy M.
