Wright, Arthur

Born Caulern, Malton, Yorkshire. Son of John Jane Ann Wright of Hutton Cranswick, Beverley (war pension address). Educated at North Burton, Staffordshire. A Farm Labourer.

Enlisted at Rudston, on 6 Aug 1914. Posted to France in 1915. Served in the 8th (Territorial) & then 17th Highland Light Infantry.  Killed in action on 2 Dec 1917. He is commemorate don the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

An Officer wrote, – “He was a fine soldier and we miss him greatly. He was ever ready to make light of the most adverse circumstances, always cheerful and happy and his chums greatly respected him.”

Unmarried. His army effects were shared with his mother, brothers, Albert and George H. and sisters, Sarah, Eva, Ethel Hudson and Elsie.
