hello I am the Great niece of Sgt Leonard Buttery and would like to know how the information of him “emigrating” to Canada was found? as far as I am aware he and my Grandfather went to Canada to visit their sister on a long tour, both worked as stonemasons, joining the Canadian army at the outbreak of the war, sadly Uncle Leonard was kia, I have that exact same photograph of him in my office. my grandfather survived and returned to Cottingham and continued as a stonemason.
