Barker, George Alfred

BORN HULL 1891. SON OF GEORGE ALFRED BARKER (1861-1941) & RACHEL ROBSON (1864-1942), OF ANLABY COMMON, HULL (CWGC RECORDS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. HE MARRIED AT NEWCASTLE, IN MARCH 1917.

HIS WIFE MARY ELIZABETH BARKER, LIVED AT 16 CHARLES STREET, HEATON, NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE.

HE ENLISTED IN NEWCASTLE. SERVED AS A GUNNER IN THE 96TH ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 04/07/1918, AGED 27. BURIED AT ESQUELBECQ MILITARY CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “FOR EVER WITH THE LORD”
