BORN ST JAMES, YORK, 1877. SON OF JOHN AND BETSEY BENNYWORTH, OF 80, WASSAND STREET, HULL. HIS FATHER WAS FROM DUBLIN. HIS MOTHER WAS BORN IN BOSTON, LINCOLNSHIRE. HE LIVED WITH HIS SISTER, NELLIE MAPPLEBECK, OF 54, REDBOURNE STREET, HULL (HULL DAILY MAIL ADDRESS, 16/11/1915) & 14, CECIL GROVE, EDINGBURGH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. A REGULAR SOLDIER WITH THE COLDSTREAM GUARDS, WHEN WAR BEGAN. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 17/10/1914, WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 16/11/1914, AGED 37

COMMEMORATED ON THE YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL, BELGIUM. RECORDED AS KILLED ON THE REDBOURNE STREET ROLL OF HONOUR (Hull Daily Mail 13 September 1916).

HE IS LISTED IN THE DE RUVIGNEY ROLL OF HONOUR, VOLUME 2.
