BORN HULL 1896. SON OF JOSEPH BLENKINSOP (1853-1931) & MARY ANN KIRBY (1858-1932), OF SWINE. SON OF A FARM LABOURER. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND SIX SISTER. HE  WORKED AS A FARM HORSEMAN. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 12215, 1ST COLDSTREAM GUARDS. KILLED IN ACTION, AT RICHEBOUG, FRANCE, ON 31/03/1915, AGED 19. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER JOSEPH. HIS MOTHER RECEIVED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 5 SHILLINGS, ON 06/08/1919.

HE IS BURIED AT  CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY, SOUCHEZ, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “HE GAVE HIS ALL”.
HI OLDER BROTHER, CORPORAL, ALLAN JOSEPH BLENKINSOP, WAS A FORMER BRICKLAYER, SERVED IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS, AND DIED IN SALONIKA, ON 13/01/1917, AGED 33. THEY ARE BOTH COMMEMORATED ON THE SWINE CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR.
THEY LEFT BROTHERS, JAMES AND LEWIS NORMAN BLENKINSOP, AND SISTERS, VICTORIA, KATE, ETHEL, NORA AND VERONICA.
