Born Barton-on-Humber, Lincs, 1892. Youngest son of Robert and Mary Jane Brown, of 63, Mary St., Scunthorpe, Lincs, and 4, Reed Street, Wright Street, Hull (War pension address). He had two brothers and one sister.

Enlisted Shoeburyness, Essex. Served with the 12th Royal Fusiliers. Killed in action, on 22/03/1917, aged 25. Buried in France.

His elder brother, Herbert Harold Brown, served as Private, 77079, in the Durham Light Infantry. His other brother, George Robert Brown, lived at 4, Reed Street, Hull and served as 320680, Army Service Corps.
