Brumby, Tom Scott

Born Hull 1892. Son of Henry & Annie Colton Brumby, of 2 Walters Terrace, Providence Row. Worked as a labourer at the Temple Street, Zinc Plate company and enlisted in the 4th EYR on 22/08/1910, aged 18. Discharged 8/10/1915 at Londsborough barracks, Hull, when his time expired, but rejoined when war began. Re-enlisted in the Hull Pals, serving with the 10th East Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action at Serre, on 13/11/1916, aged 24. His body was not recovered and he is commemorated at Thiepval. Wife Annie (Shepherd) lived at 11 Grange Street, Hull with daughter Annie Marie Brumby.

His name is recorded on Clifton Street School Roll of Honour. His death was reported in the Hull daily Mail, on 04/12/1916.
