Carr, Tom

Born Ottringham, Yorkshire, 1888. Son of Tom Edward Carr and Mary Ann Carr, of Ottringham, Hull. He had one brother, Arthur and three sisters.

He was a farm labourer. Described as 5 foot, 6.5″ tall, 37.4-40″ chest, 162lbs, very good physical development.

Married at Patrington, on 7 Dec 1909. Husband of Ellen Carr and three children, of Station Road, Keyingham, Hull (War Pension address).

He enlisted at Hull, on 06/01/1915. Served as Driver, T4/036957, 190th Company, Royal Army Service Corps, 23rd Division Train. Died of Acute Nephritis (Kidney failure), on 29/03/1916, aged 29. He had served in the army for 1 year and 86 days.

Buried at Rouen, Department de la Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France. His grave inscription reads, “LOVED, HONOURED AND REMEMBERED”.

His brother Arthur Carr served with the 32nd Hull Divisional Ammunition Column.
