BORN ENFIELD, MIDDLESEX, 05/09/1884. SON OF GEORGE CLEMENTS (1845-1922) & MARIA JANE OAKLEY (1862-1931), OF16 DANES CRESCENT, EASTBOURNE STREET, HULL. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. HE HAD SERVED AT SEA BETWEEN 01/12/1901 AND 13/03/1907, AND WORKED AS A SHIPYARD LABOURER. HE MARRIED IN HULL, IN JANUARY 1910. HIS WIFE FRANCES MARY RIPLEY (1891-1984), LIVED AT 5 WHITBY STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 10 DANES CRESCENT, EASTBOURNE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). THEY HAD EIGHT CHILDREN.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS GUNNER, 46787, IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. HE DIED AT BARNSLEY, ON 07/04/1916, AGED 30. HE IS BURIED HEDON ROAD CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “MEMORIES”.
