Cooper, William Baker

Born Leven, 1892. Son of William (1850-1931) and Clara Jane Cooper, of Bankhouse, Wetwang, East Yorkshire. He had three brothers and six sisters, some which died in infancy. Employed as a Farm Foreman, at Milbanks House Thorpe Bassett Rillington York (1911 Census)

Enlisted at Scarborough. Served in the 6th Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own). Killed at Gallipoli, on 22/08/1915, aged 23. Commemorated at the Helles Memorial, Turkey.

His army effects were left yo his father, William.

He is commemorated on the Wetwang WW1 Memorial (7 names)
