BORN LINCOLN 1895. SON OF ALFRED & ELLEN MARIA DANN, OF 4, SAPLIN STREET, MANNINGHAM, BRADFORD.

HE LIVED AT 6, BOYNTON STREET, HULL (HDM 28/02/1916). SERVED AS ENGINE ROOM STEWARD IN THE MERCHANT NAVY. DIED ON THE STEAM SHIP DIDO, SUNK ON 26/02/1916, AGED 21.

HIS NAME IS LISTED IN THE HULL MERCHANT NAVY RECORDS.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 1ST MARCH 1916. *
HE IS BURIED AT BRADFORD (SCHOLEMOOR) CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “GOD MOVES IN A MYSTERIOUS WAY WHAT I DO THOU KNOWEST NOT NOW”

HIS ELDER BROTHER, PRIVATE, CYRIL CHARLES DANN, ENLISTED IN HULL, SERVED WITH THE 7TH EYR AND WAS KILLED AT ARRAS ON 13/05/1917, AGED 24.
