BORN HULL 1886. SON OF JOHN RICHARD DAVIES & SARAH ANN JACKSON (848-1907), OF 27, ST LEONARDS ROAD, HULL (1911 CENSUS) AND 2, STEPNEY LANE, HULL. HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. EMPLOYED AS PRIMARY SCHOOL MASTER, IN BANGOR, WALES.

SERVED AS SECOND LIEUTENANT, 6TH OXFORD & BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. ATTACHED TO THE 2ND BATTALION. HE WAS KILLED ON THE SOMME, ON 13/11/1916, AGED 29.

HE IS BURIED AT REDAN RIDGE CEMETERY NO.1, BEAUMONT-HAMEL. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A FRIEND OF CHILDREN HE DIED THAT THE CHILDREN OF TO-DAY MAY HAVE PEACE TOMORROW”
