Delany, Gerald

Born Hoylake, Cheshire, 18/07/1887. Son of John Bennett Delany (1842-1896) and Mary Frances Nolan (1845-1938). He had eight brothers and two sisters. Enlisted in the Royal Navy, on 08/12/1906. Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 36-38 inch chest, dark brown hair, blue eyes.

A former Royal Marine. Invalided out of service, with disease of the spine, on 18/02/1909.

Re-enlisted on 31/08/1914. Served as Private, 2379, 4th EYR. Discharged as medically unfit on 20/02/1915, after 179 days. Transferred as Private, M/371388, Royal Army Service Corps. Died at the Hull Workhouse Infirmary, on 06/01/1918. He left £753, in his will to his brother, William James Delaney, a furniture agent.
