BORN HULL 1890. SON OF MATTHEW DRIVER (1858-1931) & THE LATE ADA LOUISE BODILLY (1860-1906) OF THIS CWGC ADDRESS. ONE OF SIX CHILDREN. BROTHER TO FRANK, WILL, FRED, MINNIE & MATTHEW. HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. SERVED WITH THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. CAPTURED AT SERRE, ON 13/11/16. HE DIED AS A PRISONER OF WAR IN GERMANY, ON 19/04/1917, AGED 27. HE IS BURIED AT MONS (BERGEN) COMMUNAL CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/11/1917. HIS BROTHERS, FRED AND MATHEW DRIVER WERE ALSO KILLED IN THE WAR. THREE SONS OF MATTHEW AND ADA DRIVER AT THIS ADDRESS. ALL THE SONS WORKED FOR HOLMES TANNERY, SCULCOATES LANE BEFORE ENLISTING. ROBERT’S PHOTOGRAPH APPEARS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 2ND APRIL 1917. *
