Elder, James

Son of Mr & Mrs Elder, at 1 John’s Terrace, Derby Street, Hull. Joined the Coldstream Guards, in 1907 and went out with the British Expeditionary Force in August 1914, where he was badly wounded and gassed. He was returned to England, and sent back to France as a Drill Instructor. He died of pneumonia contracted on active service. He was 27 years old.

Husband of Mrs. D. R. Start (formerly Elder), of 13. South Place, Oxford Rd., Windsor. Left a widow and child. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail on 02/11/1916, with his photograph.
