Farmery, Arthur

Born Hessle, Hull, 1884. Son of Joel and Mary Farmery; husband of Lily Farmery, of 21, Herbert’s Terrace, Westbourne St., Hessle Road, Hull, England. A railway signalman in Driffield. Emigrated to Australia. Arrived at Freemantle, on the 27th April 1912. Settled in Blackboy Hill, Western Australia, living at Stoke Street, Beconsfield, Freemantle. He worked as an assistant station master at Pickton Junction. Enlisted on the 5th February 1916, aged 32 years and 6 months Described as 5 foot 10 inches tall, 154 lbs weight, 34 inch chest, red complexion, brown eyes, and brown hair. He proceeded to Suez for training. Arrived in France, on 2nd August 1916 and joined the 11th Australian Imperial Force. He was witnessed, killed by a bullet in the brain, on 16th April 1917, at 5am, aged 33. His army effects were returned to his widow, who moved to Chantry Lane, Beverley, East Yorkshire.
