BORN HULL 21/8/1863. SON OF WALTER & ANN GRIMSTON – 6 GARDEN STREET, HULL. MARRIED AT HULL, 1884. LEFT WIFE SUSAN GRIMSTON & TWO SONS ALSO SERVING IN THE NAVY. PROBATE ADDRESS ABOVE WHERE HIS BROTHER, ALSO LIVED. JACK WAS LOST WHILE MINE SWEEPING. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 3RD APRIL 1917 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

Evangel, built by Smith’s Dock Co. Ltd., Middlesbrough in 1914 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 197 tons. On March 25th, 1917, Evangel was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-48 (Kurt Ramien), off Milford Haven. 15 persons were lost.
