“Pte. Ernest Hardy of Beverley, Missing. Mrs. E. Hardy of 40 Keldgate, Beverley has received and official notice from the Territorial Record Office, York, that her son Pte. Ernest Hardy, Yorkshire Regiment (Territorial) has been posted as missing.” (BG, Saturday 14th October 1916). There is a photograph in the issue dated 21st October 1916.
Mrs. Hardy was also the mother of Pte. G. Brusby (see list) who was wounded, and the mother in law of Pte. A. G. Wilson (1st Bn. East Yorkshire Regiment) of Bridlington, killed in France (BG, Saturday 8 th January 1916)
Mrs. Hardy of 40 Keldgate, has received official information from the Territorial Force Records Office, York, that her son Ernest, missing since September 17th 1916 was killed on that date. The deceased was aged 34 and had formerly been employed by Messrs.’ Cook, Welton and Gemmell at the Grovehill shipyard (BG, Saturday 21 st July 1917)
