Pte, George William Harrison, 15th Lancashire Fusiliers

BORN HULL 1885. SON OF PHOEBE HARRISON AND TOM HARRISON, A DOCK LABOURER. HIS FAMILY LIVED AT 18 GLOUCESTER PLACE, ADELAIDE STREET, HULL.

HE MARRIED DAISY MARY ELLA (1889-1981), AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL, ON 24/12/1911. WORKED AS A GENERAL LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, AS PRIVATE, 34, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 15TH LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 1ST APRIL 1917, AGED 32. HE WAS A GREAT LOSS TO THE PLATOON, AS HE WAS A GOOD SOLDIER, LIKED BY ALL.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, DAISY MARY HARRISON, AT 9, WOOLERTON AVENUE, DANSOM LANE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
HE IS BURIED AT  SAVY BRITISH CEMETERY, AISNE, FRANCE. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 09/05/1917. *
