Born Etton, Beverley, 06/06/1897. Son of Joseph Hollingsworth (1862-1922), and Sarah Green (1865-1910), of Etton, Beverley, Yorkshire. He had two brothers and three sisters. Worked as a Groom, at Nuthill, Preston, Hull (1911 Census)

Enlisted at Hull. Formerly, Private, 2628, East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the 4th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Died of wounds, on 28/07/1917, aged 20, at the 1st South African, General Hospital, France. Unmarried. His army effects were left to his father, Joseph.

Buried on the Somme. His grave inscription, reads, “IN MEMORY OF MY SON ASLEEP IN CHRIST FROM FATHER SISTERS & BROTHERS”

He is remembered on the Etton WW1 Mmorial, East Yorkshire.
